Our trip to Mombasa began with an overnight stay in Mtwapa, a lively town north of the city. While Mtwapa had a great vibe, we quickly realized that beach access wasn’t as easy as we had hoped — every visit to Bamburi Beach meant hiring a tuk-tuk. To our surprise, the apartments were real, well-maintained, and perfectly located along the Mombasa–Malindi Highway, just a few minutes’ walk from Pirates Beach.
The security personnel were friendly and explained the available units — one-, two-, and three-bedroom options. We settled into a cozy two-bedroom apartment that became our home for the rest of the trip. Getting around is simple and affordable — a tuk-tuk ride can take you anywhere, even into Mombasa town for sightseeing or dining.
