Casuarina equisetifolia (Whistling Pine), Conocarpus lancifolius, and Coconut Palm.
Casuarina was chosen as the pioneer species for its ability to tolerate saline water, fix nitrogen, and grow fast (2 m in six months).To decompose its needle leaves, the millipede Epibolus pulchripes was introduced to create humus and improve soil fertility
