There are various conservancy association in Kenya such as Laikipia conservancy association. (NECA) ,North eastern conservancy association, Baringo conservancy association and Kenya Wildlife Conservancy Association with a membership of 154 .While Baringo Conservancy association has a membership of 10 Conservancies mainly in the rift valley .

According to Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association 1.2 Billion Kenya Shillings has been lost by conservancies in Kenya as a result of Funding Freeze

Under the wildlife management and conservation act 2013 It indicates that the local communities residing in or the conservancy are permitted to conserve wildlife on their land as an income generating activity .Since the 70's the number of wildlife in Kenya has declined by 70 percent and with a sudden rise in conservancies in Kenya since 2005 where there were 1,461,204 hectares under conservation just 10 year later the number has X6 to 6,311,087 hectares under conservation . 11 percent of Kenya's land mass is under conservancies

Funding that goes to conservation plays a key role in providing incentives and supporting livelihoods for landowners and communities who host wildlife on their lands through employment, land leases, social infrastructure, nature based enterprises etc

About conservancies

A conservancy is an area managed by an individual landowner, corporation , group or a community for purposes of protecting natural resources .In Kenya there are four different types of Conservancy mainly community conservancy ,Group Conservancy ,Private conservancy and co -managed conservancy .

Currently, landowners largely bear the costs of conserving wildlife on their property. The cost is manifested, for example, through competition between livestock and wildlife for pasture and water.

A community conservancy is a legally registered body governed by a representative board of directors and run by local management team .It is community based ,created with the aim of supporting the management of community land for the benefit of people living there. 

Kasigau Wildlife Conservancy

Kasigau Wildlife Conservancy is located in Taita Taveta County between Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks in southeastern Kenya. It plays a critical role in preserving biodiversity within the Tsavo ecosystem. The conservancy spans community-owned land and is home to elephants, leopards, lions, giraffes, and over 300 bird species.

Kisigau Wildlife Conservancy is managed in partnership with local communities to promote conservation and sustainable livelihoods. Kasigau is also part of a major carbon offset project .The Kasigau Corridor REDD+—which helps reduce deforestation and provides income to locals.

Kiborgoch Community Wildlife and Wetland Conservancy is Located in Baringo county and hosts three locations at Loboi, Kapkuikui and Sandai Marigat Sub-County Baringo County . Kiborgoch Community is situated at 1Km away from Lake Bogoria National Game Reserve and opposite Lake Bogoria Spa Resort and covers an area of approximately 6,648 acres.
